Missing Cuban truck driver found dead in Georgia

MIAMI. – Alejandro Jacomino González, the 41-year-old Cuban truck driver who was wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after disappearing during a vehicle transfer between Georgia and Florida, was found dead in Georgia, as confirmed by family members to journalist Gilberto Dorrego of Telemundo Tampa.

So far, the FBI has not issued an official public confirmation about the discovery of the body. The investigation remains open.

According to the information released by the federal agency, Jacomino González left the port of Brunswick, Georgia, on April 16, bound for Miami, where he had to deliver several vehicles. Hours later, he stopped at a rest area in Brevard County, Florida.

GPS data later indicated that the truck proceeded south on I-95 to the next exit and then changed course north toward Jacksonville. Shortly after, the driver became unresponsive.

The truck was located the next day in Port Wentworth, Georgia, but Jacomino González was not inside. Authorities also reported that some of the transported vehicles were missing, although several were later recovered in Florida.

The case generated concern among family members, friends and members of the Cuban community, while the FBI requested public help to reconstruct the truck driver’s last hours and obtain images or videos of the rest area where he was last seen.

The news continues to develop and from DIARIO LAS AMÉRICAS we will be awaiting its update.
