Mexico GP 2025 announces the measures they will take to prioritize sustainability

The organization of Mexican Grand Prix 2025 has shared how logistics will work before, during and after the race weekend, seeking to generate a comprehensive positive impact on the environment, society and culture.

Like other races on the calendar, such as in Las Vegas and Spain, specific actions will be carried out in which the fans will also be involved.

Actions on and off the track

Through a statement, the Mexico GP revealed that this year’s sustainability strategy will be based on three main axes that have been called: Wellbeing, Net Zero and Circularity.

Firstly, the team in charge of the race in Mexico has reported that they will have trained personnel to attend to the presence of urban fauna (dogs, reptiles, opossums, bees), who will be able to relocate said species, seeking their protection.

11 stations with more than 70 completely free water dispensers will be installed throughout the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. In addition, F1 fans will be able to use the breastfeeding and changing rooms, as well as rest areas for the general public.

On the other hand, a carbon footprint measurement will be carried out that will allow real reduction plans to be redesigned for the near future. The installation of solar lighting towers that will reduce the consumption of fossil fuels by up to 40% and the promotion of sustainable mobility will also be actions that will be carried out.

Finally, the Mexican GP 2025 has announced that they will install organic waste collection points, in addition to promoting the use of dry toilets, which will save more than 40,000 liters of water.

After the event, the setting materials will be donated to social workshops in which they will be used to become furniture or supplies for homeless dog shelters.

In its statement, the Mexico GP finally reported that food that is not consumed throughout the weekend and that is in good condition, will be donated to communities in vulnerable situations, seeking to avoid waste.

According to reports from the F1 Sustainability Update 2025, at the end of 2024 a 26% reduction in carbon emissions was achieved throughout the season, so this year the figure is expected to increase significantly, until reaching the Net Zero goal by 2030.
