MIAMI.– With cleats, t-shirts, balls and an enthusiasm that was reflected in every smile, more than 500 children participated in a sports clinic organized by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in south Florida, an event that showed the growth and passion that youth football is experiencing in the region.
Entire families attended the event held at Broward College with the hope that the little soccer players could learn techniques, share sports experiences and, above all, get to know two Argentine soccer figures up close: Javier Mascherano, current technical director of Inter Miami, and former player Maxi Rodríguez.
From the beginning of the event, the expectation was evident. Parents and children eagerly awaited the arrival of the special guests to experience a day full of learning, motivation and emotion. When the athletes made their appearance, the atmosphere transformed into a true football celebration.
The minors ran towards their idols looking to take a souvenir. T-shirts, balls, sneakers, caps and even improvised leaves were extended to obtain an autograph or a photograph. The scene reflected the growing soccer fever in South Florida, where this sport continues to establish itself as one of the main activities among the community.
Values
During his participation in the event, Mascherano spoke exclusively with DIARIO LAS AMÉRICAS about his role in the training of young people and the impact of accompanying sports processes from a new perspective.
“Today I have to be from another place, accompanying training processes. Having lived so many years in the national team as a player allows me to understand what it means to represent this shirt. Now I try to transmit to the boys not only football concepts, but values such as commitment, discipline and the sense of belonging,” said the Inter Miami coach.
Mascherano also highlighted the importance of structured development for those who aspire to become professional footballers. As he explained, natural talent must be accompanied by perseverance and an appropriate training environment.
“Consistency is essential. Talent helps, but without daily work and without a good training structure it is very difficult to make the leap. Academies play a key role because they organize this process and teach how to compete,” he stated.
For his part, Maxi Rodríguez highlighted the value of commitment and dedication in the sporting growth of the young participants. He also pointed out that effort and perseverance are essential in the development of any athlete.
AFA effort
The sports clinic is part of the international expansion program of academies promoted by the AFA, whose objective is to replicate training methodologies used in the youth development of Argentine football.
Currently, the organization has 16 academies distributed in different countries, strengthening its global presence and promoting the growth of soccer talent outside Argentina.
The implementation of these programs in South Florida responds to the growing interest in soccer in the United States, especially in a region marked by cultural diversity and the impact generated by the development of professional sports, with Inter Miami as one of the main drivers of the local soccer boom.
