María Corina Machado leads media poll as personality of 2023

CARACAS.- The opposition leader Maria Corina Machadowho won the October primaries with 92% of the votes, leads the poll of several media outlets as the personality of 2023.

The readers of Momentum, As it is, Time, The nation, The truth, Yaracuy a Day and Runrunes They chose Machado with 53.18% of the votes. The candidate to defeat Nicolás Maduro in the 2024 presidential elections won the question: ““Who do you consider to be the most outstanding Venezuelan in 2023?” The award-winning athlete Yulimar Rojas took second place with 14.36%.

In the survey carried out by the aforementioned Venezuelan media, 613 people were consulted through virtual surveys carried out by Telegram, WhatsApp and email. Street interviews were also carried out between December 15 and 27.

María Corina Machado is under a 15-year political disqualification imposed by the Comptroller General of the Republic. At the end of 2023, the Administrative Political Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) did not respond to the de facto appeal and the protection introduced by the opposition candidate due to the violation of her political rights.

The primaries: the event of the year

Likewise, 56.96% (349 of those surveyed) believe that the elections primariesin which 2.5 million people participated, were the event of the year in Venezuela.

The primaries are followed by cases of corruption in PDVSA (20.39%), protests by teachers and public employees (10.44%); the referendum on Essequibo (8.14%) and the seizure of prisons by the Maduro regime (4%).

When asked, 39.48% responded that their greatest wish for 2024 is a change of government in Venezuela.
