Marc Márquezsix times world champion and prominent leader of the championship, corrected a rarity on his record on Sunday, imposing himself for the first time in the Austria GP Grand Prix GPa new triumph that brings him closer to his seventh world crown.
“It was a circuit to which I wanted,” the 32 -year -old pilot acknowledged to the cameras of the Spanish diffuser Dazn. “Obviously, with the red motorcycle (Ducati) I wanted to try to win.”
After the 13th proof of the 22 of the calendar, Márquez has won the 9, the last six consecutively, having conquered step 12 of the Esprint races. An overwhelming domain with which he distanced himself to 142 points of his younger brother Álex Márquez (Ducati-Rivini), second in the classification of the championship.
“The important thing is to continue adding, always try to understand the limits in the race. When going with such inertia it will cost me to understand and accept the day that you cannot win, that will arrive (…) but as long as we will try to continue,” Márquez analyzed about the final stretch of the season.
On Sunday and despite leaving the fourth position, the pilot Ducati ended up seeing the flag of paintings ahead of his compatriot Fermín Aldeguer (Ducati-Rivini), a young debutant this year in the elite of motorcycling that thus composed his best result to date.
The third step of the podium was for the Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), which left from the Pole Position and that maintained the first position until the last third of the race, when it was first surpassed by Márquez and then by Aldeguer.
Victoria de Moreira in Moto2
“I am very satisfied for the weekend as a whole,” he was glad despite everything Bezzecchi. “I have given my best as always, but unfortunately I had some problems with the motorcycle and I had to stop,” he explained.
Less satisfaction had its compatriot Francesco Bagnaia, the other Ducati of the grill factory, which ended in 8th position despite having been third for much of the 28 laps. “Pecco”, double world champion (2022, 2023) had consecutively won the last three great awards on the Austrian layout.
For his part, the current world champion Jorge Martín (Aprilia), who has lost much of the season due to injuries, suffered a fall again this Sunday and had to leave. The Madrid was then transferred to the medical center of the Circuit by caution.
In Moto 2, the Brazilian Diogo Moreira achieved his second victory in the category, less than two months after his first victory in the Netherlands Grand Prix, at the end of June.
Moreira, 21, occupies the third position of the championship, 45 points from the Spanish leader Manuel González, third this Sunday.
The season will continue next weekend, with the return of the MotoGP to Hungary for the first time since 1992.
