Maduro intensifies his enlistment plan after the deployment of US ships in the Caribbean

Caracas – The regime of Nicolás Maduro launched this Friday the second phase of enlistment of the “Bolivarian militia”, a body parallel to the armed forces that seeks to swell with “indoctrinated” citizens in the midst of the growing international pressure and the deployment of military ships of the United States in the Caribbean waters.

The day was marked by propaganda messages of senior Chavista officials against an alleged “military aggression” of Washington. The vice president of the regime, Delcy Rodríguez warned that “those who are thinking of the north in a military aggression to Venezuela, know that they will be very bad,” reinforcing the official discourse of confrontation and challenge with the administration of Donald Trump.

For his part, the Minister of Defense of the dictatorship, Vladimir Padrino López, called a “national union” and asked citizens to join the militia under what he described as a “deeply voluntary act”, although analysts have pointed out that this mechanism seeks to politically control the population and increase the civil dependence of the Chavista military apparatus.

“First phase”

Maduro announced last week that he intends to mobilize 4.5 million militiamen, although in the first phase of the plan he did not offer concrete figures of registered assumptions and limited himself to ensuring that the call was “massive”, although the call centers were displayed gaps.

The regime also supposedly deployed 15,000 troops on the border with Colombia under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking, in parallel to the United States judicial and military fence, which accuses the Venezuelan dictator to lead the Los Soles cartel.

The enlistment plan, according to the Venezuelan opposition, does not seek to guarantee the defense of sovereignty, but to strengthen Maduro’s power against the growing sanctions and the international offensive that has left it increasingly isolated, accused of narcoterrorism and systematic violations of human rights.

“Drug trafficking”

The United States announced the shipment of five warships and about 4,000 troops to the South Caribbean, near the territorial waters of Venezuela, for maneuvers against drug trafficking.

This operation is part of Washington’s recent decision to raise the reward for the capture of Nicolás Maduro to 50 million dollars and declare the Los Sol Cartel as a terrorist organization, in an effort to reinforce his offensive against drug trafficking linked to the Venezuelan regime.
