The Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez37, extended his contract for the 2025 season with the Inter Miami who leads his partner and friend Lionel MessiThe North American League (MLS) club announced this Wednesday.
Suárez landed in the franchise for this season and became its top scorer with 20 goals in 27 games of the regular phase.
“In 2024, Luis brought to Inter Miami all the elements that make him one of the best forwards of all time. His performance for us was elite, and we are excited to see him continue with us next season,” said the president of Inter football operations, Raúl Sanllehí, in the official statement.
“I am very happy, very excited to continue for another year and to be able to enjoy being here with this fans, which for us is like a family. We feel very, very connected with them and hopefully next year we can give them even more joy” ‘El Pistolero’ said on his side.
Inter was the great dominator of the regular phase of the MLS thanks to Messi, Suárez and two other former Barcelona figures, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
In the playoffs, however, they were surprisingly eliminated in the first round by Atlanta United.
Another former Barcelona player, Argentine Javier Mascherano, will be Inter’s coach next season, replacing his compatriot Gerardo Martino, who resigned after the loss against Atlanta.
