La Paz – Evo Morales maneuvers to evade justice continue to generate controversy in Bolivia. The former president, entrenched in Lauca Ñ, Cochabamba, resists to appear before the courts while his followers reinforce their protection with multiple security rings.
The Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, denounced that Morales is riding an “unfortunate show” to destabilize the country and avoid responding to justice for a crime of child abuse. “These victimization attempts do not deceive anyone. The police will do their work as soon as it is viable,” he said.
“Intervention”
The security forces warned that the intervention in the Bastion of Morales will not be simple, since their followers have organized a strategic block in the area. However, the authorities reiterated that the law will apply without exceptions and that the former president cannot indefinite his judicial responsibility indefinitely.
Morales, who left power in 2019 after a political crisis derived from complaints of electoral fraud, has tried to position himself again on the political scene through confrontation strategies. His refusal to present himself could lead to new arrest warrants, said Justice Minister César Siles.
Meanwhile, the international community observes carefully the development of events, in a context in which the government of Luis Arce seek to distance yourself from the figure of Morales and project stability in the country.
