The Ministry of Social Rights “has asked the Prosecutor to investigate to see if the law has been violated and, therefore, the rights of persons with disabilities,” the Entity told AFP on Tuesday, which echoed a complaint of the Association of Persons with Acondroplasia (Adee).
Specifically, the Ministry intends to clarify whether at the party in which the age of the Barca footballer was celebrated, people with dwarfism were denigrated.
In that case, the law would have been breached, which does not determine sanctions, although this type of activities has been prohibited for three years.
Several teammates attended this party with musical celebrities, such as Bizarrap and Bad Gyal. Guests were not allowed to record the event, but a video arose on social networks, showing people with dwarfism reaching the party.
“Nobody lacked respect, we were allowed to work in peace,” said one of the people with dwarfism anonymously to the Radio Catalan Rac1, stating that there were four artists who are dedicated to dance, serve drinks and make magic tricks to entertain the guests in the events in which they work.
“We are normal people who dedicate ourselves to what we like to do in an absolutely legal way,” he added, criticizing the Adee for wanting to “prevent us from doing what we like”, but without offering “any work or training to those affected.”
The Dominican rapper Chimbala, of low stature, published a video on Instagram in which he is seen singing next to Yamal.
At “18, the best player in the world Lamine Yamal singing my abuse song. Thank you for inviting me to your (birthday),” Chimbala wrote.
The Adee, the Spanish confederation entity of people with physical and organic disabilities (Cocemfe), announced that it will take “legal and social actions” against Yamal to “safeguard the dignity of people with disabilities.”
The entity, which denounced the hiring of people with dwarfism as part of entertainment, considers that the facts violate “not only current legislation, but also the fundamental ethical values of a society that is intended equal and respectful.”
For the Adee, “this type of practices is intolerable because it perpetuates stereotypes, feeds discrimination and undermined the image and rights of those who have an actroplasia or other skeletal dysplasias, as well as all people with disabilities.”
The association recalled that the law expressly prohibits these practices.
