The Democrats are in a winning mood in Chicago. Kamala Harris is ahead of Trump in the polls. Everything is “joy” and “fun”, maybe even a little too much. Scenes from a euphoric city.
Until recently, T-shirt seller Adrian Jackson wondered whether he should even come to Chicago for the Democratic convention. He had been to the Republican convention in Milwaukee and sold a lot of T-shirts there: Trump as a Terminator. Trump with a machine gun. Trump with a halo. Trump as a superhero.
“But Biden? What should you print on Biden’s T-shirt?” he asks. “Sunglasses? Oldest president in history?”
Jackson stands in front of the United Center on the west side of Chicago and stacks the T-shirts for the day. “Kamala Harris – Yes we came.” “Kamala Harris – Joy.” “Kamala Harris – Forward.”
