Judge rejects second tax request to prohibit Dina Boluarte from leaving Peru

LIME – The Peruvian Justice Department rejected for the second time a request from the prosecution to prohibit former President Dina Boluarte from leaving the country, while investigations continue against her for an alleged crime of omission of duties related to a series of cosmetic operations.

Judge Juan Carlos Checkley rejected the prosecutor’s request to impose an 18-month ban on leaving the country, considering the risk of flight unfounded. In less than three years, Boluarte has accumulated seven open investigations, in addition to at least three others initiated before assuming the presidency, characterized by a management marked by political and social conflict.

According to the court ruling, the alleged economic and family ties that the former president maintains abroad do not constitute sufficient arguments to support the fear that she will evade justice while the investigations progress.

“Investigation”
