Jennifer Aniston has often had to defend her own childlessness. This made her even angrier by the derogatory comments made by Donald Trump’s vice-candidate JD Vance.
Jennifer Aniston is one of the most famous and popular Hollywood actresses. And yet there were always headlines that had nothing to do with her film projects, but rather with her childlessness. Speculation about a possible baby bump followed rumors about her desire to have children. Why doesn’t a woman like Aniston have any children? The undertone of many reports about the “Friends” star repeatedly suggested that she had focused too much on her career. A successful woman simply doesn’t want children.
Jennifer Aniston reacts to derogatory comment from JD Vance
Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate JD Vance recently made similar comments about Kamala Harris. He called Harris and other Democrats a “bunch of childless cat women who feel miserable about their own lives and the choices they’ve made.” And that’s not all: “That’s why they want to make the rest of the country feel miserable too,” said Vance. A comment so derogatory and discriminatory that Aniston now felt compelled to respond directly on Instagram.
“I really can’t believe this is coming from a potential Vice President of the United States,” Aniston wrote on Instagram. Addressing Vance directly, she said: “Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is lucky enough to have children of her own one day. I hope she doesn’t have to resort to IVF (in vitro fertilization) as a second option because you’re trying to take that away from her too.” Words that were influenced by Aniston’s own experiences with the topic.
Aniston last spoke about the impact of the many gossip stories last year. In an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter” she said that she had taken the headlines about her childlessness personally for a long time. She always thought that all those who speculated about her and her body did not know what was really behind it.
“Childless cat women”
In a 2022 interview with “Allure,” Aniston revealed that she herself had tried to become a mother through IVF. “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard. I went through IVF, drank Chinese teas, whatever,” the “Friends” actress said at the time. “I did everything for it. I would have given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. That ship has sailed,” she said.
The issue of artificial insemination is one of the most important in Trump’s election campaign. In June, JD Vance voted against the “Right to IVF Act,” a regulation that ensures the accessibility and affordability of IVF. It would be a significant blow for people who want to have children if the Trump administration came to power.
Vance probably did himself no favors with his discriminatory comment. “Childless cat ladies” are already rallying behind Kamala Harris online. And the politician should not underestimate Aniston’s reach either. The actress has a mere 44.9 million followers on Instagram.
