After the canceled Tenacious D tour, Jack Black (54) is hopeful for a reunion with bandmate Kyle Gass (64). In mid-June, the singer and actor announced that he would cancel the duo’s upcoming concerts following a statement by Gass about the shooting of Donald Trump (78), and that he no longer wanted to pursue any creative plans with him in the future.

At the premiere of his new film “Borderlands,” Jack Black struck a different tone: “I love Tenacious D. We had to take a break, but I love the D,” he told “Entertainment Tonight,” adding, “Everyone takes a break sometimes. We’ll be back.”
Speaking to Variety, Black also said that he and Gass are still friends. “That hasn’t changed. These things sometimes take time. And when it feels right, we’ll come back,” he said.

On July 16, Jack Black wrote in a statement on Instagram that he was “blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday.” “I would never condone hate speech or support political violence in any form.” After careful consideration, he does not believe it is appropriate to continue Tenacious D’s tour. In addition, according to Black, “all future creative plans are now on hold.”
Gass had celebrated his birthday during a performance by Tenacios D in Sydney. When asked by his colleague Black to make a wish, he said: “Don’t miss Trump next time.” The former president had previously been shot at a campaign event in Pennsylvania. A visitor to the event was killed and Trump was injured in the ear.
He then apologized for his comment, calling the line “highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.” He said he did not condone violence and that what happened was “a tragedy.” Gass said he regretted his lack of judgment and “profoundly apologized to those I have disappointed and sincerely regretted any pain I have caused.”
