Ivanka Trump: Where is Donald’s favorite daughter in the election campaign?

Once her father’s closest advisor, Ivanka Trump is now missing from the US election campaign. The reasons for their withdrawal are complex.

The times when Ivanka Trump (42) played on the big political stage alongside her father Donald Trump (78) seem to be over forever. While the ex-president is currently striving with all his might to get back into the White House, his eldest daughter is noticeably holding back in the current election campaign.

“I love my father very much. This time I want to give priority to my small children and the private life that we lead as a family,” the mother of three had already made clear in an official statement at the end of 2022. “I don’t plan to get involved in politics.” A decision that she continues to implement to this day.

Ivanka Trump fled into private life

Together with her husband Jared Kushner (43), the former presidential advisor has largely withdrawn from the public eye. The couple lives in Miami with their three children and focuses on private business. On her Instagram account, Trump also appears almost exclusively privately, as a modern mother and wife. There, for example, she proudly shares her workout routine or snapshots with her three children and her husband. Political statements? None.

Ivanka Trump only rarely shows up at her father’s side – like a few months ago at a UFC martial arts event in Miami in May or at the official announcement of his presidential candidacy in June 2024. The studied economist was once the ex-president’s closest confidante – and basically didn’t leave his side. As his official advisor, she sat at the table at important political discussions, represented the USA at international summits and was considered a moderating voice in the White House. But after losing the 2020 election and the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, she increasingly distanced herself.

She later testified before the Capitol Insurrection Committee that she did not share her father’s allegations of election fraud. A statement that further strained the already tense relationship. Donald Trump himself seems to be having a hard time coping with the withdrawal of his favorite daughter. On Fox News last summer, when asked about working with Ivanka and Jared again, he answered a curt “no.”

Husband Jared Kushner also ruled out returning to the White House

The former “First Daughter” apparently has other priorities. Instead of politics, the focus is now on family and business. “As a family, we’ve also enjoyed stepping out of the spotlight and being down here in Florida with the kids,” her husband Jared Kushner recently said. He also categorically ruled out a return to the White House for himself and his wife if Donald Trump won the election.

Ivanka’s husband also once held various positions in Donald Trump’s orbit. Before his presidency, he was one of his leading campaign managers, was then his chief advisor and in 2017 took over the management of the “Office for American Innovation” in the White House. He was also appointed as a special representative for the Middle East and the corona pandemic.

While Ivanka Trump makes herself scarce, other family members step into the breach. Son Donald Jr. (46) and daughter-in-law Lara Trump (42) have become important campaign aides. Even son Barron, who has just come of age, has already been spotted at campaign appearances and is slowly growing into the role at his father’s side.

The former crown princess of the Trump empire, on the other hand, seems to have put an end to her political past. Like his wife Melania Trump, who is rarely seen at her husband’s side and recently even openly railed against her husband’s central position on abortion rights. “There is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women have from birth: individual freedom,” she said in an impressive speech on X.

The Trump dynasty is more divided than ever before in the 2024 election year. It remains to be seen whether Melania, Ivanka and Jared’s distance from their husband, father and father-in-law and his politics will last. The Trumps’ story has seen many surprising twists and turns.
