In Spain, they are negotiating to extend Luis de la Fuente’s contract until 2030

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is already working on extending the contract of coach Luis de la Fuente, whose current relationship with Spain ends in 2028. The federation president, Rafael Louzán, confirmed that the talks seek to prolong his continuity “beyond or around 2030.”

In an interview on RNE, Louzán highlighted the career of the Riojan coach and considered that his “simplicity and ability to work” have been fundamental for the recent successes of the Spanish team.

“It is something that I think Luis deserves and we are working on it,” said the president of the RFEF, who recalled that De la Fuente already renewed his contract shortly after taking office and that he subsequently led the national team to win the World Cup.

Louzán also highlighted that De la Fuente is the coach with the most titles in the different categories of Spanish football and defended that he should continue leading the project for the next few years.

“He has to be a participant,” said the leader, who valued the coach’s work along with a group of players whom he described as “unforgettable.”

Spain wants the 2030 World Cup final

Louzán also spoke about the venue for the 2030 World Cup final, a tournament that Spain will organize jointly with Portugal and Morocco.

The president of the RFEF was forceful in defending that the decisive match must be played on Spanish territory.

“Nothing else would be understood other than that Spain was the one hosting the final of that great World Cup,” he said.

Louzán also recalled the weight of Spain and Portugal in the organization of the tournament and pointed out that both countries represent 55% of the World Cup project.

“Spain has all its intentions, as it could not be otherwise,” said the leader, who highlighted that Spain has led the project together with Portugal since its beginnings.

The president of the RFEF finally highlighted the historic moment that Spanish football is going through, remembering that the country is currently world champion in both the men’s and women’s categories.
