Hispanic Americans cannot sit back in these elections

As a fourth-generation Floridian, I have seen firsthand how Hispanics rebuilt their lives after fleeing communist countries. Their freedoms were crushed, their property confiscated, and their freedom of expression criminalized; However, with strength and determination, they came to the United States and started from scratch, building new lives based on property and opportunity, in pursuit of the American dream.

Today, those freedoms are at risk of being taken away by far-left Democrats pushing the same socialist policies that you and your families fled. Republicans are working to stop them.

After four years in which Democrats caused prices to skyrocket, attacked Christians and believing Americans, and introduced transgenderism into our schools, the American dream seemed unattainable. It became impossible to start a business, it became harder to make a living, and once-safe communities became plagued by crime. It was time for a change.

During President Trump’s first term, the unemployment rate and poverty level among Hispanics reached historic lows, Hispanic household incomes reached record highs, and investment and new jobs flowed into Hispanic communities, allowing small businesses to thrive. The president didn’t just make empty promises: he kept them.

In their second term, Republicans have continued to deliver. We passed tax cuts for working families, which put more money in the pockets of middle class families. Millions of Hispanic Americans work in restaurants, construction and hospitality, and Hispanic-owned businesses are one of the fastest-growing forces in our economy. These sectors thrive on tips and overtime pay, and thanks to Republican leadership, those workers are able to keep more of what they earn. The tax cuts also expanded the Child Tax Credit and created Trump Accounts, making it easier to start a family and giving our children a head start on building wealth.

President Trump’s tough fight against crime has made our communities safer. From day one, we ended Biden’s open borders policy and stopped the flow of drugs and crimes committed by cartels. There have been 16 consecutive months with zero border releases, cartels have been decimated, fentanyl deaths have plummeted, and violent crime has fallen to historic lows. The only thing that was needed was a new president.

Many Hispanic Americans and legal immigrants raised their voices loudly to demand an end to the Democrats’ open border policy, and President Trump and Republicans listened. A secure border honors the millions of people who arrived legally, worked hard and made their own way.

However, all this progress could be reversed. If they don’t participate in these elections, they could end up with socialist senators in Texas and Florida, and a government that resembles less the nation their family helped build and more like the communist dictatorships that many Hispanic Americans fled.

While Republicans are cutting taxes, making medicine cheaper, and protecting communities, Democrats are more focused on protecting criminals who are here illegally, promoting sex changes in minors, and destroying the foundation of our country. They believe the best way to support working families is to increase taxes and government control, measures taken straight from the communist playbook of Fidel Castro or Hugo Chávez.

The empty slogans of campaigning Democrats may sound compassionate, but their policies will drive up prices, take away their freedoms, and allow Washington bureaucrats to empty their pockets.

So when Republicans say the stakes are high, we mean it. Without a Republican Congress, there is a real possibility that the progress made over the past two years could be erased overnight. Americans deserve a government that defends and expands tax cuts, funds border security, and keeps our economy growing; and that will only happen if you vote Republican this fall.

Although President Trump and Republicans have achieved tangible results, our work is not done. In fact, we are just getting started. If Democrats can win the majority, they will reverse the progress we have made and make the American dream more difficult to achieve.

Hispanic families did not cross oceans, escape dictatorships, or build new lives from scratch, only for far-left Democrats to come and take everything from them.
