Immediately after the end of the TV duel in the US presidential election campaign between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the Democrat’s campaign team asked the Republican opponent for a second debate. US citizens could have seen on Tuesday evening what choice they would face in November – and should have another opportunity to do so in October, the Harris team explained. “Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is it Donald Trump?” the statement said.
So far, both camps had not been able to agree on further dates for a TV duel, so it was assumed that it would just be a TV debate. The duel, broadcast by ABC in Philadelphia, was waged by Trump and Harris with tough tactics and sharp attacks on each other.
Trump said afterwards that it was his “best debate” to date. At the same time, he accused the two moderators of being biased: “It was three against one,” Trump wrote on his online platform Truth Social.
Almost two months before the presidential election on November 5th, Harris and Trump are neck and neck in the polls. The TV duel was seen as a great opportunity for both candidates to change the pendulum in their favor and get more voters on their side.
