Donald Trump likes to surround himself with people who tell him what he wants to hear. With his inauguration, a whole group of loyalists moved into the White House. But nobody takes this role as serious as Natalie Harp.
The 33-year-old former TV presenter provides the president with articles and social media posts inconspicuously but always present. In recent years, she has continued to work into his inner circle as Trump’s personal news fairy. When Trump was charged in New York last spring, she kept the position in the courtroom with him. In the election campaign, she accompanied him to almost every appearance. And since his re -election she has hardly given away from his side.
Harp does not have an official title, but her colleagues jokingly call her “human printer” because she always drives a portable printer around with her to hand over the information in his preferred paper form.
Although she is hardly known outside of Trump’s immediate environment, Harp could now play an influential role in his second term. But their proximity to the president – including a desk in front of the Oval Office – does not like everyone in the White House.
Natalie Harp claimed that she owes her life to him
Six years ago, Natalie Harp aroused Donald Trump’s attention with an emotional television appearance. Harp, who grew up in a Christian-conservative budget in California, appeared in the broadcaster Fox News in 2019 and described the president at the time in front of the camera as her rescuer. She was ill, she said, and Trump had saved her life with his “Right to Try” law signed in 2018 by giving her access to experimental treatments. Her version was later questioned by health experts, who noted that Harp was treated with an immunotherapy drug, which was already approved before the “Right to Try” law.
However, Trump liked her story so much that he personally invited her to speak to the Republican Party Congress in 2020. Shortly afterwards Harp became part of his presidential campaign.
After the lost election, Harp hired as a moderator at the “One America News Network”, an extreme right-wing TV station, known for the spread of falsehoods and conspiracy theories. And Harp also liked to spread Trump’s lie there that the victory in the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
In 2022 she left the broadcaster to work in Trump’s communication team. During this time, Harp was often spotted how she accompanied Trump on his golf trips, always armed with a laptop and printer in order to cheer up their boss at any time with positive news articles or online posts. At the same time, she became a kind of unofficial personal secretary: Trump dictated her thoughts, and Harp immediately spread her as posts on his official “Truth Social” channel on social media.
Secret letters to “her protector” Donald Trump
How quickly a deep relationship of trust developed between the two became clear in 2023 when Trump in Georgia was charged in Georgia due to attempted election influence. In a tantrum in front of his staff, Trump complained that Harp was the only employee who really takes care of him.
During this time, Harp started to send Trump a number of letters full of flattery, as the “New York Times” unveiled shortly after the election in 2024. The lines read from a kit trace. “You are everything that is important to me,” Harp writes in one of the letters. In another she thanks Trump for being her “protector in this life” and promised to “never let him down”. “I would like to give you joy so that you have the feeling that we can survive the day without ever having to talk about work,” said the assistant to her boss.
The criticism grows in Trump’s inner circle
While Harp has not given way from Trump’s side since the election campaign, the close relationship in the Trump team is increasingly seen. Behind the hand, colleagues Harps complain unfiltered information flow. One of her preferred news sources is therefore “Gateway Pundit”, a popular US website for conspiracy theories of the extreme right. It has also happened that she arranged media interviews for the president on her own – much to the displeasure of Trump’s official press team.
However, a number of serious breakdowns caused internal anger.
It was Harp who played Trump an article in March 2023 in which he was depicted with a baseball bat next to the head of the district prosecutor of Manhattan, Alvin Bragg, as he was on the top. Trump posted the picture on social media, but deleted it again on the advice of his lawyers.
Another time, Harp von Trump in Mar-A-Lago had an anger attack on more than 40 posts against E. Jean Carroll, the author who had accused him of sexual abuse. While other employees wanted to keep him from it, Harp posted one hateful contribution after the other. Shortly afterwards, Trump was sentenced to a fine of more than $ 83 million.
When Trump sent angry SMS to the billion dollar republican Miriam Adelson in the past campaign summer, it was Harp who pressed “Send”. It was news that almost cost the presidential candidate to support one of the most important donors in his party.
Shortly after Trump’s election victory of the next Fauxpas: Harp published a private message from Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, shortly before the two heads of state met for the first time in five years.
Trump does not tolerate criticism of his darling
Donald Trump does not want to hear anything about the criticism of his favorite assistant. He wipes aside with concerns about Harp, whom he calls “Sweetie” and treats like a daughter. Only one thing counts for him: their unconditional loyalty – the highest value in Trump’s orbit. He has not forgotten that Harp was one of the few faithful who did not evoke from his side when he was considered a political outsider after his election defeat in 2020 and the storm.
Recently, his spokesman Steven Cheung Harp praised as a “trustworthy and valued” employee who contributed to “her work ethic and her commitment” to win Trump in November.
Well, where Trump has moved into the White House again, Harps is still likely to increase. For the time being, she is supposed to move into a desk in the Oval Office anteroom, just a few meters away from her revered boss.
In particular, Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles is likely to be a thorn in the side. Wiles, also known as “Die Eis-Lady”, is considered one of the most feared strategies in Washington and wants a stricter control of the information that ends up at Trump’s table in everyday government life. Just last week she had shown Elon Musk, Trump’s self -appointed “First Buddy”, the borders by giving his plans for an office in the west of the White House.
Against Trump’s “Sweetie”, even the iron Wiles is powerless.
