LONDON.- The coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiolaannounced this Monday at a press conference that the midfielder RodriBallon d’Or 2024, is close to returning after suffering a new injury in October.
“Rodri doesn’t have much left. I’m not sure, but it won’t be for long,” declared the coach in the press conference prior to the duel against the Bayer Leverkusenon the fifth day of the Champions League.
“He is recovering and we are evaluating the timing of when he will return. We will wait a little longer to make sure he is okay,” he added.
The citizen coach also referred to his incident on Saturday with a camera operator, whom he rebuked after his players’ defeat in the fiefdom of the Newcastle (2-1).
“I apologize. I am embarrassed and ashamed. I don’t like it, I apologized to the cameraman immediately (…) Even after 1,000 games I am not a perfect person, I made a big mistake,” explained the 54-year-old Catalan.
Man-U is still in trouble
Manchester United wasted an early red card from Everton on Monday and lost 1-0 on their home field, on matchday 12 of the Premier League.
The “Red Devils” thus miss the opportunity to rise to the Top 5 and remain in 10th position, just ahead of Everton, who added their fifth victory of their season at Old Trafford.
This despite the fact that everything started badly for the Toffees, with a grotesque scene in the 13th minute: after a shot by Bryan Mbeumo, deflected by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, midfielder Idrissa Gueye vehemently headed towards his partner in defense Michael Keane, whom he considered guilty of the action.
The two teammates had an exchange of words, pushed each other and it even appeared that Gueye hit Keane… an action that led referee Tony Harrington to send off the untied Gueye, who had to be restrained by Pickford.
According to the French newspaper L’Equipe, it is the first time since 2008 that a Premier League player was sent off for arguing with a teammate: Ricardo Fuller, from Stoke City, was then sent off for hitting his teammate Andy Griffin.
