The British pilot George Russell (Mercedes) turned his pole position into a solid victory in the Grand Prix of Singapore 2025thus adding the fifth triumph of his career in the Formula 1.
Unlike what happened in 2023, when an error in the last laps left him out of the race, Russell showed absolute control from beginning to end. Serene and precise, he maintained the constant rhythm that allowed him to dominate in the complicated urban layout of Marina Bay.
Toto Wolff, director of the Mercedes team, praised the performance of his pilot:
“George, today was great. The combination of pilot and car was perfect”
McLaren assures the bicampeonato of builders
Although the victory went to Mercedes, the great celebration of the day came from the McLaren boxes, which achieved its second consecutive title of builders thanks to the third place of McLaren
The result consolidates the regularity of the Woking team, which in the absence of six races can no longer be reached by their rivals. This double partial podium reaffirms the excellent technical and strategic level of the team led by Andrea Stella.
Verstappen, under pressure in the pilot championship
For his part, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) had to fight intensely to contain the rhythm of the McLaren. The Dutchman maintains his advantage, but the championship panorama is adjusted: now there is 41 points ahead of Lando Norris, while Oscar Piestri remains 22 points from his British partner.
With six great awards to be played, the battle for the title of pilots promises strong emotions until the end of the season
