Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, 81, is hospitalized in critical condition, according to his spokesman this Sunday, without giving more details about what happened.
“Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition,” reads the text published in X by spokesman Ted Goodman.
“Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and is fighting with that same level of strength right now. “We ask you to join us in prayer,” he wrote.
The New York Times quotes the same spokesperson Goodman to assure that Giuliani is in a hospital in Florida, although the main message does not specify it.
The information was also replicated in Truth Social by the president, Donald Trump, who confirmed that Giuliani had been hospitalized in a publication in which he launched political darts against the Democrats.
“Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a true warrior and by far the best mayor in the history of New York City, has been hospitalized and is in critical condition,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“What a tragedy that the lunatics of the radical left, all of them Democrats, treated him so badly (…) And he was right about everything! They cheated in the elections, they made up hundreds of stories, they did everything they could to destroy our nation and, now, look at Rudy. What a shame!” Trump added.

Giuliani, who served as Trump’s personal lawyerrepresented the latter in litigation aimed at overturning the results of the 2020 elections. He was disqualified from practicing law in New York and Washington DC for his participation in those initiatives.

He also faced state charges in Georgia and Arizona for his actions following the 2020 election, and was named one of the unindicted conspirators in special counsel Jack Smith’s federal election interference case against Trump. The former mayor denied the accusations.
Giuliani served as mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001.
