Floyd Mayweather agrees to return to the ring in Mexico City against John Gotti

MEXICO CITY.- With a fixed gaze like in the old days, the former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather challenged John Gotti III on Wednesday, whom he will face in an exhibition fight next Saturday in Mexico City.

“It’s always about competing (…). I’m a boxer until the day I die,” Mayweather, who retired from the ring in 2017, said at a press conference.

“He’s still in great shape at 47,” admitted his opponent, grandson of John Gotti, godfather of a mafia family who died in prison in 2002.

The boxers will take to the ring at the Mexico Arena, which has a capacity for 17,000 spectators.

“I know we’re going to have a sold-out crowd, I’ve done it a million times,” said Mayweather, who went undefeated in his 20-year career and 50 professional fights.
