Florida breaks visitation records in the third quarter of 2023

MIAMI.- Its iconic attractions, famous theme parks and paradisiacal beaches make Florida in the favorite destination of tourists. This is demonstrated by the new record it established in the number of visitors received during the third quarter of 2023.

According to the state agency tourismVisit Florida, between the months of July and September the Sunshine State received 35.1 million tourists. This represents an increase of 1.6% compared to the same period in 2022 and 8% more compared to 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

In total, during the third quarter of this year it received 32.2 million national touristswhich represents 91.8% of travelers in general; 2.2 million foreign visitors, which is equivalent to 6.3% of visits; and 666,000 from Canadawhich corresponds to 1.9%.

The number of foreign and Canadian tourists during this period represented an increase of 19.3% and 60.3%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2022.

Florida breaks visitor records

Florida continues to break records for annual visits, having received 105.2 million tourists during the first nine months of 2023. So far, 724,000 more travelers have arrived in the Sunshine State than in the same period during the previous year, when 104.478 million travelers arrived in the state.

“Visit Florida’s efforts, in conjunction with local tourism partners, do more than highlight the unparalleled beauty of the Sunshine State, but also have driven growth in global traveler visits“said the president and CEO of the state tourism agency, Dana Young.

In addition, travel expenses in the state have also suffered a considerable increase. In the third quarter of 2023, it increased 11.3% compared to the same months in 2019. While the increase in the US as a whole was 3.9%.
