Miami.- Florida broke his own tourist record in 2024, reaching a 15.5% participation of the holiday market within the United States, Governor Ron Desantis announced Monday.
The figure represents an increase of almost a percentage point compared to 2023 and consolidates the State as the favorite holiday destination of the Americans, a position that has been maintained since 2019. This milestone marks the sixth time Florida exceeds its own brand during the administration of Desantis.
Sustained growth in national and international tourism
Since the beginning of 2024, Florida has experienced remarkable tourist performance, both nationally and internationally. In the first two months of 2025, the State reported an increase of 0.5% in Canadian tourism by air, despite a 2.3% decrease in trips from Canada to the rest of the country. In addition, the arrival of overseas visitors grew by 6.5%, with remarkable increases from the United Kingdom, Brazil and Argentina.
In February, Governor Desantis confirmed that Florida continued to be the main global tourist destination, upon receiving a total of 142.9 million visitors during 2024. This figure represents an increase of 1.6% compared to 2023, which had already marked a record.
The fourth quarter of 2024 also reached a historical maximum with 33.1 million visitors, promoted by 29.9 million national tourists, 2.5 million international visitors and 742,000 tourists from Canada.
Expanding economic engine
The governor attributed this success to state policies that, according to him, prioritize freedom, public safety and common sense. These conditions have turned Florida not only into the favorite destination of Americans, but also a world reference in the tourism industry.
The tourist activity remains a key piece in Florida’s economy, providing income, employment and international positioning. The figures confirm that the State continues at the forefront of the sector, with a sustained and attractive growth model for travelers around the world, said the governor.
In 2023, national and international visitors contributed 131 billion dollars to Florida’s economy.
