Hannah Dugan, Milwaukee’s judge, is accused of helping a man evade immigration authorities; It is known for directing a “strict” court and at the same time being a familiar face in the community, particularly in interreligious events.
The Government has faced magistrates, rights groups and democrats who say that it has trampled or ignored constitutionally enshrined rights by hurrying to deport migrants, sometimes without the right to an audience.
“Just now, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for charges of obstruction, after evidence that (…) obstructed a migratory operation of arrest last week,” Patel published in his X account X.
“We estimate that Judge Dugan intentionally diverted the agents (of the immigration police) of the dangerous individual who was going to be arrested (…) allowing the individual, an illegal immigrant to evade the arrest,” added the director of the FBI, Kash Patel, in his account of the network X.
He said that the immigrant was finally arrested after a persecution on foot.
“Fortunately, our agents persecuted” the individual “and has been in custody since then, but the obstruction of the judge increased the danger” for the people who were there, Patel said. Minutes later he erased the message.
Several federal and state judges have suspended some of the measures taken by Trump, unconstitutionally. Most have no jurisdiction, but are due to a political agenda of ultraiz left and anti-trump.
On Thursday, an exjuez from New Mexico and his wife were put in custody after federal agents paved his home for housing an alleged illegal immigrant member of the Venezuelan band Train of Aragua, US media reported.
Judicial appearance
According to judicial documents, last Friday the judge was “visibly annoying and had a conflicting and angry attitude” when the agents came to arrest the Mexican migrant Eduardo Flores-Ruiz.
The lawsuit alleges that Dugan made Flores-Ruiz go out of the Court Chamber through a door used by jury members to keep it away from the agents.
Dugan, elected magistrate in 2016, appeared on Friday before an American judge in the federal court of the center of Milwaukee, where he did not comment publicly, said Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
According to the newspaper, his lawyer Craig Mastantuono declared the Court: “Judge Dugan laments completely and protests his arrest. It was not done in the interest of public safety.”
The incident has unleashed a flood of criticism from the Democrats and applause from some Republicans.
Democratic representative Darren Soto described the arrest as “something typical of a dictator of a third world country.”
The Democrats maintain a campaign to hinder Trump measures in migratory matters through the courts with which he seeks to expel from the United States to members of criminal gangs such as the Aragua train and the MS-13, already immigrants with criminal records.
Who is the immigrant?
According to a criminal complaint obtained by the New York Post, an ICE officer and an official of the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) They will wait outside until the audience will end.
The complaint indicated that Flores Ruiz, 30, had been deported from the United States once before, in 2013. It was not clear to the immediate when he crossed the border again, and there is no evidence that he did it legally.
Flores Ruiz appeared against Dugan on April 18 for a conference prior to the trial for three minor positions of aggression derived from a fight the previous month in which he was accused of hitting another person 30 times, according to a police report obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The complaint indicates that while the team assigned to arrest Flores-Ruiz, which included FBI and DEA agents, expected the arrest.
“No one is above the law”
The United States Attorney General PAM Bondi confirmed Dugan’s arrest. “No one is above the law,” Bondi published on the social network X.
And warned those who house foreigners in an irregular situation: “We will find them.”
“We send a very strong message today,” Bondi told Fox News. “If you house a fugitive, we don’t care who you are, if you help hide one (…) whoever is illegally in this country, we will persecute and process you.”
Who is Dogan?
He has been a judge of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court since he defeated the owner appointed by former Republican Governor Scott Walker in 2016. He ran without opposition in 2022 and his current mandate expires in 2028.
Previously, Dugan was a litigating lawyer and held administrative positions in legal action of Wisconsin Inc. and legal Aid Society Inc.
Democrats undertake against the FBI
The president of the National Democratic Committee, Ken Martin, said he was alarmed by the fact that Trump orders “his federal thugs to arrest a duly elected judge.”
“Brick brick, Trump is trying to dismantle our democracy,” according to the Democrat.
Several Republicans, however, rushed out in Patel defense.
Corruption of judges
“The corruption and determination of these antiestadounidal activists judges to put illegal foreigners before US citizens are frightening,” Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger estimated.
On Thursday, an exjuduez from New Mexico and his wife were put in custody after federal agents paved his home for housing an alleged migrant in an irregular situation that is believed to be a member of the Venezuelan criminal band Train de Aragua, US media reported.
It faces a maximum of 10 years in prison if it is declared guilty of both positions. It was not clear immediately if Dugan would be licensed during his case.
