Fatal bus accident leaves seven dead in St. Petersburg

Flies- At least seven people died this Friday when a bus carrying about 20 passengers fell into a river in Saint Petersburg, Russia's second city, authorities reported.

“The number of people killed when a bus fell into the Moika River has increased to seven,” the Russian Investigative Committee said, adding that a criminal investigation had been opened.

The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry previously said three people had died, four were in a “state of clinical death” and two were seriously injured.

According to the police, the bus crashed into the barrier of a bridge over the Moika River in the center of St. Petersburg, with about 20 people on board.

Video surveillance images released by Russian media show the vehicle taking a curve, colliding with a car, crashing into the bridge barrier and sinking in a matter of seconds.
