European supporters of Ukraine hold video conference

After the summit of US President Donald Trump and Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin in Alaska, the European supporters of Ukraine will advise on the further procedure on Sunday at a video conference. Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU), France President Emmanuel Macron and the British Prime Minister Keir Strander organize the virtual meeting (3:00 p.m.) of the “coalition of the willing”. It is about discussing the next steps towards peace in Ukraine.

The video conference takes place one day before the trip by the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj to Washington. Merz said the Europeans also wanted to advise themselves with Selenskyj on Sunday. During the previous visit of Selenskyj in Washington, there was a scandal, Trump had accused the Ukrainian head of state in front of ongoing cameras. After the summit in Alaska, Trump gave up the destination of a quick ceasefire and is now striving for a comprehensive “peace agreement”. At the same time, however, there should be security guarantees for Ukraine, including the USA.
