The businessman Elon Musk plan donate about 45 million dollars a month to a fundraising organization that finances the presidential race of former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump, as reported this Monday The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
The Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter, says that Musk has said he plans to donate the money to America PACa type of political action committee (super PAC) that can collect donations from individuals, corporations, and unions and spend unlimited amounts.
Musk, who is the executive of Tesla and SpaceX and the richest person in the world, said months ago that he did not plan to make donations to any candidate but On Saturday he asked for a vote for Trump after this survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Businessmen bet on Donald Trump
America PAC, created in June, has already received donations from other businessmen such as Joe Lonsdale (Palantir); Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss (Gemini) or Joe Craft (Alliance Resource Partners) and his wife Kelly Craft (former US ambassador to the UN), the paper says.
According to documents submitted to authorities, America PAC received $8.75 million in donations in the most recent quarterso the amount Musk has committed would have a substantial impact on his work.
The organization seeks to counteract the efforts of the Biden campaign to get votes in the so-called swing states, which could decide the next presidential election, encouraging voters to register and vote early, adds the Wall Street Journal.
Donald Trump reappears after attack
Two days after the assassination attempt, Republican candidate Donald Trump reappeared during the Republican National Convention being held in Milwaukee, in the north of the United States.
