Éder Militão underwent surgery this Tuesday for an injury to his left leg, news that seriously complicates his options to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Brazil.
Real Madrid confirmed in a statement that the defender underwent successful surgery for a rupture of the proximal tendon of the biceps femoris in his left leg.

The white club reported that the intervention was carried out successfully in Finland and that the player will begin his recovery process in the coming days.
Although the team did not detail the official time of absence, Spanish media estimate an absence of close to five months, which would leave them out of the rest of the season and with practically no chance of reaching the 2026 World Cup.
Brazil loses a key player for the World Cup
The possible loss of Militão represents a significant blow for the Brazil national football team, since the Madrid center back is one of the most important defenders of the team.
The tournament will be played in Canada, United States and Mexico.
A recent injury history
The Brazilian had already been suffering physical problems during the season. In November he suffered a first muscle injury that caused him to miss two games, and he was subsequently injured again in December.
In that relapse he suffered a tear in his left femoral biceps that kept him off the field for four months.
The new intervention seeks to reduce the risk of future relapses in an especially delicate area for the defender.
