MIAMI.- Ed Sheeran becomes the first male solo artist of the season to star in the iconic takeover jersey of the Catalan football club t-shirt FC Barcelona. This is a collaboration between the team and Spotify which will make the players wear the logo Play, from the British singer-songwriter’s recent album, during the match they will play against Real Madrid.
After the news was made public, Sheeran expressed his excitement at being able to see how his album arrives on a stage as important as the Spanish classic.
“See my new album play on the Barça shirt is something that fills me with pride. “I am a big fan of football and FC Barcelona, and I love that we can unite the worlds of music and football in such a fun way,” he said.
For his part, Marc Hazan, SVP of Partnerships and Marketing at Spotify, assured that Sheeran was a perfect option because he loves sports and his music transcends borders.
“We are excited to bring a true football fan to a moment as iconic as the Clásico. Ed’s genuine love for the sport and his global impact as an artist make play be the natural choice for the front of the Barça shirt.”
