Donald Trump’s son Barron How he has changed in eight years

At just 18 years old, Barron Trump has now experienced his father’s presidential oath of office for the second time.

At the inauguration of Donald Trump (78) on January 20th, there was also a reunion with his youngest son Barron Trump (18). He has now experienced his father’s second oath of office. When Donald Trump became US President for the first time eight years ago, in 2017, Barron was just ten years old. In the meantime he has grown a lot and become more mature. Will the business student be seen more often now?

Youth with special challenges

Barron Trump appeared in the Capitol Rotunda between his maternal grandfather, Viktor Knavs, 89, and his mother, Melania Trump, 54, to attend his father’s swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States. The young man now clearly towers over his mother and is sometimes referred to as “Trump Tower” because of his height of 2.06 meters. It is still unclear to what extent he will appear during the presidency.

During and after his father’s first term in the White House, the adolescent was largely shielded from the political spotlight – in contrast to his adult half-siblings Don Jr. (47), Ivanka (43), Eric (41) and Tiffany (31), the Trumps actively supported political careers.

Barron spent much of his childhood in New York City and attended exclusive private schools on the Upper West Side. During his father’s election campaign in 2016, the boy also came into the public eye. Due to his reserved and shy demeanor, rumors circulated that he might be autistic. In 2024, Melania Trump revealed that these had deeply affected her son, who was bullied at school. “I was horrified by this cruelty,” she wrote in her memoirs.

After Trump’s inauguration in 2017, Barron finished the school year in New York and then moved to the White House with his father. While in Washington, Barron attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Maryland. After Trump left the presidency, the family moved to Florida and Barron transferred to a private school in Palm Beach. He graduated from high school last spring and is now in his first year of college at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

But he should also have a place to stay in the White House again and be able to visit whenever he wants, his mother recently told Fox News. “I feel like we have them as children until they’re 18, 19 years old. We teach them, we guide them and then we give them the wings to fly.”

Praise from Papa Donald

Maybe Barron will now be more public. At the inauguration in 2025, he seemed much more relaxed than eight years ago. Barron, who used to be so serious, now appeared to be laughing and in a good mood. He waved to the crowd after his father mentioned his role in the 2024 election campaign. Because Barron established a connection with the younger generation for him. “I have a very tall son named Barron. Has anyone ever heard of him?” Trump said to cheers from the audience. “He knew the youth vote. We won the youth vote by 36 percentage points… He said, ‘Dad, you’ve got to go out, meet Joe Rogan, meet all these guys,'” Trump recalled how his son encouraged him to do interviews with well-known podcasters and YouTubers.
