Donald Trump rants on Truth Social: "I hate Taylor Swift!"

After the TV debate against Kamala Harris, Donald Trump is dissatisfied. Now he is unleashing all his anger online and is specifically targeting a celebrity.

A few days after US superstar Taylor Swift expressed her support for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Republican Donald Trump is apparently venting his anger. “I hate Taylor Swift!” read a post published in capital letters on his Truth Social account. Truth Social is the online mouthpiece of the Republican presidential candidate. He co-founded the platform as a kind of Twitter replacement.

Swift spoke out in favor of the Democrat immediately after the TV debate on Tuesday evening (local time), in which Harris met Trump for the first time. She will vote for Harris and her vice presidential candidate Tim Walz in the presidential election on November 5, the singer announced in a post on Instagram. Swift has enormous influence among her fans and has around 284 million followers on the platform.

Swift has hundreds of millions of followers on online networks, and her Instagram post after the TV debate was liked by more than ten million fans. “Going after Taylor Swift is a really bad campaign strategy,” wrote one user on Sunday on the online service X. At the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, Swift reiterated her call to register to vote in the presidential election.

Donald Trump rage and rage online

Trump’s Truth Social account posted several posts in all caps on Sunday morning (local time), including: “The failed New York Times is a real threat to democracy.” Before the Swift post, it said: “All rich, job-creating people who support Comrade Kamala Harris are stupid.”

Trump had already appeared annoyed shortly after Swift’s Instagram post. “She always seems to support a Democrat. And she’s probably going to pay a price for that in the market,” he said. He added that he is not a Swift fan.

A few weeks ago, Trump published images on Truth Social that were generated using artificial intelligence to give the impression that Swift and her fans supported Trump. Swift now cited these images as a reason why she was making her political position public.

The Truth social account is usually managed by Trump himself. There was initially no independent confirmation of the authenticity of Swift’s post.
