Donald Trump: He congratulates Miami winner Lando Norris

Donald Trump congratulated the surprise winner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami, Lando Norris, with a handshake.

McLaren driver Lando Norris (24) surprisingly clinched his first victory in Formula 1 at the Grand Prix in Miami on May 5th. Donald Trump (77), who used the racing spectacle for his presidential campaign, was among the first to congratulate him.

“It was a great honor”

Trump posted two pictures on his Instagram page from the event, to which he wore his famous red cap with the words “Make America great again.” In one photo he poses grinning next to the British-Belgian racing driver Norris, both men giving the thumbs up. The 77-year-old said: “It was a great honor to see my friends at McLaren win the big Miami Formula 1 race. It was the car that I visited before the race.” Winning is what the country needs.

With his victory, Norris has distinguished himself as the new racing champion. After 110 starts in Formula 1, he took the lead for the first time, leaving perennial winner Max Verstappen (26) in his Red Bull by more than seven seconds. Charles Leclerc (26) finished third in the Ferrari. Lando Norris could hardly believe his luck and shouted enthusiastically over the radio after his triumph: “I love you all.”

Many stars at the Grand Prix

In addition to Trump, many celebrities such as singer Ed Sheeran (33), model Kendall Jenner (28), singer Camila Cabello (27) and football star Travis Kelce (34) followed his surprising victory in Miami.
