Donald Trump announced that the 2026 World Cup raffle will be on December 5 at the Washington Kennedy Center

The draw of North American World Cup 2026which will be organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be held at the Kennedy Center in Washington on December 5, announced Friday the US President, Donald Trump.

“It is the largest sporting event, probably the most important,” said the president, who wore a cap with the legend “Trump was right in everything”, in statements to journalists in the Oval Office of the White House, where he was accompanied by the president of the president of the FIFAGianni Infantino.

The 79 -year -old president suggested that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, could attend the World Cup, and said “he wants to be there”, although “it could do it or not” depending on the result of the peace efforts in Ukraine.

During the announcement, made from the Oval Office and in the company of Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, Trump also had the unusual opportunity to support the emblematic World Cup trophy.

“Only the president of FIFA, the presidents of the countries and then the winners can touch it, because it is only for winners. And as you are a winner, of course you can also touch it,” said Infantino.

“Can I stay it?” Trump joked, who has the oval office adorned with several golden pieces since he returned to power in January. “It’s a beautiful piece of gold. It’s beautiful,” he insisted.

Infantino gave the US president a giant entry in row 1, seat 1, for the final of the World Cup, which will be played on July 19 at the East Rutherford Metlife stadium, New Jersey, on the outskirts of New York.

The choice of the headquarters of this draw has deep political connotations.

Since the beginning of the year, Trump and his administration have led a Kennedy Center control taking with the argument that the prestigious enclosure became too “Woke”, a pejorative term of the radical right to designate the policies to promote diversity.

“Some call it the Trump-Kennedy Center, but we are not yet prepared to do so, perhaps in a week,” said the president, who has promised improvements to beautify him.

The US president also praised the federal offensive in progress against crime in Washington, where Troops of the National Guard were deployed in the streets.

Trump said that measure will make the capital of the United States a safe place for football fans who visit the city during the tournament next year.
