Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray played seven Grand Slass finals. In the historic 40 edition of the so -called Fifth Grand Slam, both legendary tennis players will not be rivals, however. The British will be the Serbian coach.
With 37 years and winner of 24 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic will seek to become the largest winner of the Miami Openwhich is now played on the Hard Rock Stadium courts.
The Serbian matches the Master 1000 Master 1000 Tournament champions with André Agassi, with six crowns each. Djokovic will return to Miami Open after six years of absence.
Just the last time he did was the first one in which the tournament was held at the Hard Rock Stadium. Then Djokovic was first in the world and fell in the fourth round against the Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut.
The champion in that edition was the Swiss Roger Federer after defeating the American John Isner.
In 2016 it was the last time Djokovic took the crown in Miami and was the closure of a triplet that began in 2014. His first title had been in 2007. He then doubled in 2011-12.
The idea of Djokovic to entrust Murray the position of Coach spoke at the end of 2024, after the Scottish retired from active practice last August.
At the Australia Open 2025, Murray directed the Serbian as evidence. Djokovic reached the semifinals against the German Alexander Zverev, after having eliminated in the previous round Carlos Alcaraz. He retired after an injury to the Corva tendon.
“It is indefinite in terms of how long we are going to work together, but we agreed to work in the United States (Indian Wells and Miami Open),” Djokovic said in February. “Also in some clay tournaments, and we will see how it results after this.”
Of the seven Grand Slass finals that both played, the Serbian won five and the Scottish two. In the 2012 London Olympic Games, Murray defeated Djokovic in the semifinals and then beaten Roger Federer and conquer the gold medal.
