In Houston, Hundreds of Latinos, Hundreds of Latinos have demonstrated against the mass deportation of migrants operated by US President Donald Trump. The demonstrators marched to Hermann Park in the city center on Sunday. Among other things, they shouted: “We don’t go away!” And “the migrants live for a long time!”.
“I am here to be a voice for people without voice, for people who are afraid,” said the 34-year-old demonstrator Alexandria Pike. “I want Donald Trump to stop the mass deportations now, let children keep up, stay away from the schools, stay away from the worshipers (…) and simply leave people alone.” Pike is a US citizen, her grandmother had once immigrated to the United States illegally when she was pregnant with her mother.
Trump wants to lock migrants in Guantanamo
Alfredo Castillo, another demonstrator, said: “We are not criminals, as Trump says.” Rather, Trump himself was the “criminal”, the 63-year-old pensioner added to a porn actress in connection with the criminal conviction of the right-wing populist president in connection with the payment of hogding.
“People come here to work to make a living in an honest way,” said Castillo, the son of Mexican immigrants. “This country was made by immigrants and it will always be that way,” emphasized the pensioner. Trump has repeatedly defamed migrants as a criminal and as a danger to the United States. He has declared the deportation of people living without residence papers in the country to one of the priorities of his government – according to estimates, around eleven million people live in the USA without legal status.
Trump announced that “criminal” migrants in the US camp in Guantanamo should be locked up in Cuba. According to his words, up to 30,000 migrants are to be accommodated in the camp at a US naval base.
