The incident occurred on Sunday night at the Louis Armstrong Stadium, when a photographer – whose access was immediately revoked – entered walking to the side of the track just after a bonzi serve failure.
Chair Judge Greg Allensworth ordered to withdraw the photographer and decided to repeat the first serve, which unleashed the fury of Medvedev. The Russian faced the referee, insulted the officer and lit the public, who responded with boos and shouts of “Second Serve!” The interruption lasted for more than six minutes.
