The star of the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curryhe did not score in the second half of Saturday’s defeat by 118-108 against Los Angeles Lakers.
Curry is dealing with a right thumb injury, but I don’t blame the persistent problem for his bad shooting night.
“It’s a shame, but it’s no excuse for anything,” Curry told reporters after the game. “We have to keep playing. I succeeded 8 of 8 (against the Philadelphia 76ers). It is something that has been around to the point that it is repeated from time to time.”
“It is one of those things that almost disappears and then reappears. I will take care of it, but I shouldn’t bother how he did tonight,” he said.
Curry finished Saturday’s game with 13 points, 4 of 17 shots, including 2 of 9 from depth.
However, it is not so bad for the twice MVP since it appeared in the Warriors injury report on January 2 for a thumb sprain.
Curry averaged 24 points with 47.7% success in shots in their last 10 appearances before Saturday’s game. He was wearing a bandage on the thumb during the last weeks and does not plan to miss any time now that Golden State is entering at a crucial moment of his calendar.
“I think every time he receives a blow, it’s like a step back,” Curry said. “It’s simply upset. Obviously, I’m going to play with that, but I was joking with one of our doctors tonight, I didn’t even want to mention it because it’s as if it soon reaches 100%, receives another blow.”
“Again, it’s not an excuse. I try not to worry about that when I am in the field, but I hope it clarifies sooner than later,” he said.
