Conor McGregor points to the presidency of Ireland

DUBLIN.- He actor and mixed martial arts (MMA) Conor McGregor today expressed – March 21 – his desire to reach the presidency of Irelanda few days after being received by Donald Trump in the White House.

“Ireland, the decision is yours and is easy. Vote for me as our president and we will save Ireland together,” wrote the former 36 -year -old champion on social networks.

The elections to the presidency of Ireland, an honorary position rather than executive, will be held on November 15.

Civil condemnation

In order to opt for the position, McGregor should obtain the endorsement of 20 members of the Parliament or four municipal authorities, which will not be easy taking into account his sentence (civil) in November for a case of rape.

The lawyer of the athlete and actor announced today that he will present an appeal against this conviction before a Dublin court.

“The future of Ireland is with me as president. All Irish have a voice and vote about their future,” reiterated a McGregor, who on March 17 was received at the White House by President Donald Trump on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of St. Patrick, patron of the Irish.

He also offered a press conference in which he expressed himself against illegal immigration, one of his battle horses due to the risk that Ireland loses his identity.

Irish prime minister, Micheal Martin, described McGregor’s comments as false, ensuring that they did not reflect the spirit of San Patricio or the opinion of the Irish people.

Nickname The Notorious, McGregor is one of the main world stars of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the most famous MMA League.

He is known for his aggressive and provocative temperament and also for his outbursts against immigration.

In November 2024, the Irish justice condemned him civilly to compensate with 248,000 euros to a woman who accused him of raping her and hitting her brutally in 2018 and whose criminal demand was not admitted.

In the United States, another woman accuses him of having sexually assaulted her in Miami in June 2023.
