Commercial conflict Nintendo postpones Switch 2 pre-orders for tariffs

The game group Nintendo is launching a new console in early June. The pre -orders in the USA should actually start in a few days. But new US tariffs thwart the plan.

Nintendo is moving pre-orders for the Switch 2 game console in the United States in view of the new US tariffs. “Pre -orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the USA will not begin on April 9, 2025 to evaluate the possible effects of tariffs and the developing market conditions,” said the Japanese game manufacturer. “Nintendo will update the schedule at a later date.” But it remains with the plan to launch the console on June 5.

A few days ago, US President Donald Trump presented a huge global customs package that puts the global economy to the test. In a first step, new flat -rate tariffs of ten percent took imports from all countries.

On April 9, a complex mechanism will follow in a next step, which provides even higher tariffs for countries with which the USA has a particularly large trade deficit. Trump had previously introduced punitive tariffs to certain product groups that are also preserved.
