THE UNION.- The Brazilian club Chapecoense visited this Friday in Colombia the mountain against which the plane carrying his delegation crashed ten years ago and which caused one of the worst tragedies in world football.
Representatives of the city team Chapecoin the south of Brazilattended the tribute organized by local authorities in honor of the 71 people who died in the incident on the night of November 28, 2016.
Among those attending was one of the six survivors, former defender Net Helio. At 41 years old, he returned for the third time to the place where he almost died.
A mural was installed there with photographs of the victims with the inscription “Champions of Heaven.” The Brazilian team will inaugurate a monolith that has the names of those who perished engraved.

In the midst of the fight to remain in the Brazilian first division, Chapecoense came to Medellin to play a friendly match on Saturday against National Athletic in the stadium Atanasio Girardotwithin the framework of ten years since the catastrophe.
The accident occurred in Cerro Gordo de La Union, when the Brazilian team was preparing to land near Medellín to play the first leg final of the South American Cup before National.
But the plane ran out of fuel and crashed into the mountain. Since then, the club, which was going to compete for its first continental final, was never able to return to the front pages of the sport.
“Regrets still alive”

Ramírez was the first to arrive at the scene of the accident and help the victims along with his son Johan, later nicknamed the “Child Angel of Chapecoense” for helping to evacuate the victims thanks to his knowledge of the mountainous and muddy area.
After the tragedy, Chapecoense was crowned by the Conmebol as champion of the Copa Sudamericana at the request of Atlético Nacional.
Both teams met again five months later to fight for the South American Cup Winners’ Cup 2017which the Colombian club conquered.
