Kim Kardashian rarely speaks directly on political issues. When she sought contact with politicians in the past, it was always to make her ideas for criminal justice reform heard. The 45-year-old, who has almost completed her training as a lawyer, has been active in this regard for years. For this reason, she has already met with Donald Trump and later also with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Her ex-husband Kanye West, however, made no secret of the fact that he is a Trump fan.
However, Kardashian recently made an unusually strong statement criticizing Donald Trump’s treatment of immigrants: “You hear on the news, ‘Oh, it only affects criminals, and we’re helping our country.’ But then there are so many people who have worked so hard to build a life here, and so many who are an important part of our country are affected.” This refers to the tough raids and deportations carried out by the ICE customs authority.
Kim Kardashian keeps a low profile politically
Trump’s government has already reacted sourly to the reality star’s statement. “Miss Kardashian is misinformed and ignorant of the reality of the operations in Los Angeles, about which she nevertheless expressed her opinion,” said Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin. The relationship between Kim Kardashian and Donald Trump is likely to be tense at the moment.
But that apparently didn’t affect her friendship with his daughter Ivanka. The two have known each other for many years and have been close friends since around 2014. Both were invited to Amazon boss Jeff Bezos’ wedding in Venice. And that relationship doesn’t seem to have changed as a result of Kardashian’s criticism of Donald Trump’s governing style. At least not if you go by what she just wrote to Ivanka on Instagram.
Kim Kardashian praises Ivanka as kind and smart
There, Kim Kardashian congratulated the 44-year-old on her birthday with warm words: “Happy Birthday to the kindest, smartest woman I know! I hope you celebrate BIG! Love you!” She also posted a picture that shows the two of them together. “This will always be one of my favorite photos of us!”
And the warmth obviously exists on both sides. At least Ivanka said something similarly nice when Kim Kardashian celebrated her birthday on October 21st: “I love you, you birthday queen!”
