The Bundestag will debate the situation in the Middle East on Wednesday (plenary session from 1 p.m.). At the request of the Union and SPD coalition factions, a current hour is taking place under the title “Two years after the Hamas terror and the start of war in Gaza – seizing the opportunity for peace in the Middle East”. Tuesday marked the second anniversary of the brutal attack on Israel by the radical Islamic group Hamas. Both sides are currently conducting indirect negotiations on a peace plan from US President Donald Trump.
To kick things off, there will be a government survey with Research Minister Dorothee Bär (CSU) and Environment Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD). In the afternoon, parliament will decide on the reform of citizenship law planned by the black-red government. This means that the so-called turbo naturalization introduced by the traffic light coalition is to be abolished after just three years. In the future, naturalization will only be possible from the age of five.
