WASHINGTON— Former United States President Bill Clinton has been discharged from hospital after spending the last day hospitalized with fever, a spokesperson confirmed.
Clinton “was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center this afternoon for testing and observation after developing a fever,” his deputy chief of staff, Angel Urena, said on Platform X on Monday, adding that the 78-year-old former president years “remains in good spirits.”
“President Clinton was discharged today after receiving flu treatment,” explained his deputy chief of staff, Angel Ureña, on his X social network account.
Clinton and his family have said they are “deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at Georgetown MedStar University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes they have received.”
Finally, the former president took the opportunity to “send his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to everyone.”
The Democrat, who served two terms as president from January 1993 to January 2001, addressed the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this summer, campaigning ahead of the November election for the unsuccessful bid of Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, to the White House, after the resignation of President Joe Biden, forced by the leadership of the Democratic Party.
Since leaving the White House, Clinton has faced health problems. In 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery after experiencing prolonged chest pains and difficulty breathing. Clinton returned to the hospital to undergo surgery for a partially collapsed lung in 2005, and in 2010 received two coronary stents. In 2021 he was hospitalized for a urinary tract infection that spread to his bloodstream.
