During an appearance in Pennsylvania, US President Joe Biden jokingly shows off a Trump cap. He doesn’t miss a swipe at his former opponent.
The outgoing US President Joe Biden put on a red cap with the inscription “Trump 2024” during a visit to the US state of Pennsylvania. The cap is one of the campaign accessories of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who wants to move back into the White House and whom Biden sees as a threat to US democracy.
At a meeting Wednesday with firefighters in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to commemorate the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a Trump supporter handed Biden the cap. The 81-year-old, who was wearing a black cap himself, took the red one and put it on top too.
Doubts about Biden’s mental fitness
The video of the president laughing with his political archrival’s cap enthroned on his head quickly spread across online services. The Trump team reacted immediately: “Thanks for the support, Joe!” the team wrote on the online service X.
The president dropped out of the race for the White House on July 21 because doubts about his mental and physical fitness had become increasingly louder. The trigger for the end of his political career was a disastrous appearance in a TV duel with Trump a month earlier.
