Biden on the brink: Scholz needs a Trump plan now

The Chancellor relied too much on Joe Biden. This is now taking its toll. Olaf Scholz must change course – to protect Europe.

When NATO celebrates its 75th anniversary in Washington this week, Joe Biden is inviting everyone to dinner. Sitting at the table in the White House will be the German Chancellor, many other heads of state and government – and an elephant. The question is whether the American President will hold out, whether he will even find his chair, whether he will remember the names of his guests. It would already be a success, jokes one of the Chancellor’s camp, if Joe Biden’s glass did not fall out of his hand when he toasted.

At the moment, it seems that only sarcasm helps.
