MUNICH.- The goalkeeper and captain of the Bayern Munich, Manuel Neuer (40 years old), has extended his contract with the Munich club for one season, until the summer of 2027, announced the current double champion of Germany in a statement this Friday.
“I took my time to reflect before making my decision. All the conditions are met here: with this team we can beat any rival,” declared Neuer.
According to the German press, Neuer should share his playing time with the youngster even more Jonas Urbig (22 years old), signed from Cologne in January 2025 and called to take Neuer’s place at Bayern in the future.
Bayern has also extended the contract of Sven Ulreichnumber 3 in the club’s goalkeeper hierarchy.
With a contract until June 30, 2026, Neuer initially wanted to make his decision at the end of March, but asked the club for a little more time after suffering two muscle tears in February and March.
On his return, he has shown at 40 years old that he is still just as decisive between the sticks for Bayern, multiplying his saves in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Champions Leaguein front of the real Madrid and the Paris Saint-Germain.

According to several German media, Neuer appears on an expanded list of 55 names sent by each team to the FIFA, before the delivery of the final call for 26 footballers at the latest on June 2.
Trained in the Schalke 04his hometown club of Gelsenkirchen, Neuer joined Bayern in the summer of 2011 and over the years established himself as the best goalkeeper in the world during the 2010s, revolutionizing the position.
