MIAMI.- At the critical moment for Barcelona in LaLiga, in which they have won only one of their last five games, now is added the loss of one of their young figures, Lamine Yamal.
Yamal suffered “trauma to his right ankle during yesterday’s match against CD Leganés,” the Catalan team announced in a statement posted on social media, the day after the defeat in the League match.
“The tests carried out this morning have shown a grade 1 injury to the anterior intertibio-peroneal ligament. The approximate time of absence will be between 3 and 4 weeks,” the statement added.
In Sunday’s defeat, Yamal was replaced by Gavi in the 75th minute, after playing much of the game limping due to a blow received in the first quarter of an hour of the game.
The 17-year-old Barça star will be out in Saturday’s duel in Barcelona against Atlético Madrid, second in the League behind the Catalan club, with the same number of points (38), but one game less.
After a negative streak of three defeats in October against Benfica (4-0), Lille (3-1) and Betis, Atlético de Madrid has not known defeat and has placed itself at the top of the Spanish championship standings. while Barça has had two defeats in its last two games played in its stadium.
