During the menstruation period women can experience some uncomfortable situations such as colic, fluid retention and humor changes.
Some can also perceive an unpleasant smell of menstrual bleeding, which should not occur, according to the obstetric gynecologist Ingrid Paredes.
In conversation with Todaythe specialist said it is important that every woman knows her body and can detect changes that reveal some condition.
“There is no normal smell during menstruation, it is important that you know your body, but usually there should be no plague,” he said.
Causes of bad smell
Paredes explained that the unpleasant stench may appear an infection.
“The main causes of bad smell during menstruation is whether there is an infection at the same time you have your normal period,” he said.
The gynecologist recommended that before a suspicion of infection it is advisable to visit the doctor:
“It is important to know that unpleasant smells may be an infection, so it is important that you are going to check to know if there is infection.”
Ingrid Paredes explained that during the menstrual period it is essential that women have constant cleaning.
“It is important to maintain a little more accentuated hygiene during the period, because due to the blood that is sometimes accumulated in tampons or towels, it makes bacteria grow and cause bad smell,” he concluded.
Remember that if you present bad smell or some other alert fact such as pain, itching or inflammation you must go to your doctor for optimal assessment.
