MADRID-. Memphis Depay scored a double in the second half and the Atlético de Madrid beat Lugo, from the third division, 3-1 on Saturday to reach the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey.
Argentine Ángel Correa also scored for Atlético, who had just lost to Girona in the Spanish league. Atleti are 10 points behind the leaders at the halfway point of the season.
Correa opened the scoring two minutes into the game and Leandro Antonetti tied for Lugo in the 39th.
Memphis, who has not been a usual starter this season, gave Atlético the lead in the 66th and sealed the duel in the 74th.
Defending Cup champion Real Madrid later visits fourth division team Arandina. Barcelona faces Barbastro, also in the fourth division, on Sunday.
Other first division clubs that will have duels on Saturday on May Kings Day include Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, Real Betis and Girona, which is second in the league behind Madrid.
Madrid, Atlético, Barcelona and Osasuna make their debut in the Cup in this round, which is played in a one-match direct elimination format.
